Current Position Available:

Outpatient Substance Abuse Counselor:

Job Description: The Utah Harm Reduction Coalition is hiring a part time or full-time therapist for our outpatient substance abuse clinic in Midvale. UHRC is a nonprofit community-based organization that provides harm reduction services, education and advocacy throughout Utah. Our mission is to provide evidence-based interventions to aid people in reducing health and social harms associated with substance use. Our treatment program is an integrative harm reduction-based program and our only requirement for services is attendance and a desire for change, and our clients decide that change. We do not have set goals for our client’s recovery (i.e. abstinence) and support all pathways to recovery. We believe recovery is individual and recovery is any state of being that is better than the one you were in before.





Providing high quality clinical services to fidelity


Building strong alliances with clients while holding boundaries


Working within the framework of the program, specifically providing services that reduce harms


Performing initial and ongoing treatment planning in collaboration with the client and the treatment team


Providing services using the modalities of Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and harm reduction to fidelity


Collaborating and consulting with supervisor, treatment-team members, community partners and other relevant parties concerning clinical issues.





-Has a license in good standing in Utah as an LCSW or CMHC.


-Will consider CSW or ACMHC licenses with experience.


- Must have a can-do attitude and be solution focused


- Must have the ability to self-directing, self-motivating and driven.


-Is able to communicate effectively and professionally in person and in writing,


-Is adept at utilizing standard computer programs and basic documentation processes.


-Has experience in substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and trauma informed mental health care


-Is comfortable working with people who have experienced trauma and may be in distress.


-Will do 80% plus direct care per week in group and individual treatment sessions.


-Most importantly, has a passion for working with people who use substances

Syringe Exchange Specialist:

We're hiring and we want you to join our team! Are you passionate about harm reduction and recovery, and have the skills to match? We want to hear from you. We're hiring for a position in our syringe exchange program and here is what we're looking for:


- Must have a drivers license

- Case management experience a plus

- Previous experience working in a non profit or working within grant guidelines or requirements

- Previous experience working with people who use drugs
